Celebrating Our TWO Year Stream-iversary!

Two years ago on December 11, 2017 I decided to start a writing stream.

And what a wild ride it was been since then!

To celebrate two years of craziness, we had a stream-iversary party with crazy Japanese snacks, writing games, memories of stories we wrote over the past year, and a forgotten shame from my past.

You can watch the ENTIRE stream here if you’d like, or scroll down for highlights.

1:50:30 — I Guess Who Wrote Which Story Challenge
2:47:40 — Reminiscing Over Stories from the Last Year

3:25:00 – Chat Gives Feedback to 12-Year-Old Scott’s Fanfiction

#1. Terrifying Japanese Snacks

Every half an hour or so, I spun the wheel to decide which Japanese snack I’ve never had before I should try live on stream.

Here’s my ordering of them from best to worst, along with a riveting description and the timestamp of when they happen in the video:

  1. Almond fish (1:38:50): A spindly ball of twigs that softens and dulls as you chew, with the salty fish giving a nice edge to the sesame-sprinkled almond.
  2. Chestnut yokan bean jelly (3:49:30): If for some reason you drizzled a jar of honey over a bunch of plain, boiled beans.
  3. Spicy squid: Tastes like being rejected by your crush, pre-chewed tasteless gum dunked in a faint spice that you wish wasn’t there.
  4. Egg crabs (52:40): Smells like sweet ocean death, a candy cane where the ends are coated in sugar, and for some reason a demon Santa put crab meat in between them.
  5. Natto (4:19:00): Spoiled tapioca balls soaked in cheap beer for days on end, then drizzled with frothy, sticky milk, all of it begging to stay in your mouth for as long as possible to increase the overall misery of humanity by just that much.
  6. Mushroom pudding (2:40:00): The test sip you take from a carton of milk in your fridge at night that you forgot when you bought it and you can’t find the expiration date. Instead of liquid hitting your lips, it’s a globule of sour cow piss.

#2 Guess Who Wrote Which Story Challenge

First we played a game where everyone wrote a 100-word story that started with this familiar sentence: “Once upon a time.”

I stayed blind to what everyone wrote, then I tried to guess who wrote each one, with a backup guess for each too. If I got it on my first guess I got one point, and if I got it on my second I got half a point.

In the end, out of 13 stories, I got a total of 5.5 points! Not bad if I say so myself, though there were a couple that should’ve been obvious that I got wrong. I must spend more time honing my senses sharper.

#3. Reminiscing Over Stories from the Last Year

After that I had chat vote from my top 10 stories that we wrote over the last year to pick one that we’d read again. Here’s the order they came in:

#1. “Love Triangle Between Woman, Dog and Cat”
#2. “Santa’s Workshop”
#2. “The One-Eyed Cathedral”
#3. “Magical Girl Academy Dating Sim”
#4. “Anime Girls Stipulation”
#4. “Berenstain Bears 50 Shades”
#4. “The Whisperer”
#4. “Thesaurus Magic”
#5. “Grill Dating Sim”
#5. “Gods and Worshipers”

We read the #1 story and laughed and cried together, remembering the good times that went into originally writing it. Be sure to check out any of the above stories that you missed!

#4. Chat Gives Feedback to 12-Year-Old Scott’s Fanfiction

Finally, it was time to turn the tables for freeshare. Instead of me giving feedback to chat, chat gave feedback to me… specifically a story I’d written when I was 12 years old: Harry Potter fanfiction.

If you want to cringe along as I read it, and read chat’s helpful advice, be sure to check out the video!

And here’s an awesome acrostic poem that viewer Dragonflyghter made for the occasion!

All in all it was an absolute blast, the perfect way to celebrate the past year. Here’s to hoping that 2020 is another year of learning, ranting, trolling, and of course, writing.

If you want to join us and help write a story by trolling in chat, or share your own writing for feedback, then we’d love to have you join us on Twitch.

And you missed the stream, you can still watch them on the YouTube channel or watch the full stream reruns.

Hope to see you next time, friend!Featured image: Pakutaso
