This pig has a plan.
And it involves the New Year’s countdown and a rocket ship.
You’ve been waiting for a package to arrive for a week.
Finally, you hear the delivery truck coming down your street. But you hear something else too… the yipping of a wiener dog.
No, not one. Not two. Dozens of them, pouring out from house after house!
For the last stream’s exercise, we did something we’ve done before: edit the beginning of a viewer’s story.
FateOfSilver was generous enough to allow us to use their story for the exercise. But this time, rather than completely rewrite what they had written, we instead focused on doing more detail-oriented editing. FateOfSilver had crafted a nice opening, but it was a little too fast and was missing out on some juicy specifics.
So we employed a tactic that I wrote about nearly two years ago: cracking open scenes with the Hammer of Details.

For the last stream, with special guest Abbey, we did a fun exercise: Abbey and chat wrote the beginning to a story, then I had to finish it.
We did this before when Abbey was a guest, and I really enjoyed the story we came up with. It was fun to try and make sense of a story that Abbey and chat purposefully tried to make as crazy as possible.
And this time, it was a challenge. Abbey and chat wrote a story about an otter assassin turned pork-bun-saleswoman, targeted by a rival duck.
Yup. That’s what I had to work with. Here’s what we came up with:
For the last stream, it was Valentine’s Day here in Japan, so we decided to have a love-filled stream.
For the exercise section, that meant dredging up memories from my past and writing about one of my worst dates ever. We’d done this before a few months ago, and it was a lot of fun; plus I still had plenty more bad dates to write about.
The chat voted between three choices, settling on “drug dealer surprise” as the story I’d write. It was a bit hard remembering all the details from high school, but I think I did a fairly good job:
Well Christmas is over, so that means it’s time to write about the harsh, sobering realities of the season that we wake up to with a hangover the day after Christmas.
For our writing exercise last stream (along with my special guest Abbey), we gave the chat five “miserable Christmas happenings” to choose from, and “drunk uncle” won by a hair. After brainstorming a bunch of ways we could write about a drunk uncle, we went with the most interesting one: writing from the drunk uncle’s point of view.
