The Writing Triathlon Competition!

Three photos. Three writing challenges to put your skills to the test.

It’s time for the Writing Triathlon!

During the last stream, we had our third Writing Triathlon.

Similar to the last times we did it, we had three rounds where chat could participate. Each round tested a different writing skill, and the judges were myself, Abbey, and a strawpoll too. At the end of all three challenges, the winners with the most points got to pick fabulous prizes!

—Yosh1tailz (my pick)

Japan’s greatest troll on foreign tourists.
—RealSayakaMaizono (Abbey’s pick)

I looked down at the ornate grave in front of me, a resting place for the passing.
—Dragonflygher (chat’s pick)

Grandma done told me the leftmost toilet was haunted by the ghost of a woman who’d died sh*tting, but I bought it anyway for half my allowance, I’d never seen no ghost anyway.
—SIXSIXseve_n (chat’s pick)

The emperor’s toilets held the secrets of ages past, of the foods and histories of the ancient and venerated family.
—bobicus (chat’s pick)

Challenge #3: Scott eating macaroni and cheese pizza
Challenge: Write a DESCRIPTION inspired by this photo.

Here’s some of the highlights for this challenge:

The road to hell is paved with good intentions; likewise, the road to constipation is paved with macaroni pizza. Every gooey strand of cheese stuck and stretched, salt crystals kaleidoscoping across his tongue, the crust shattered, at once oil-slicked and crisp. He’d regret this in the morning.
—gameon12321 (my pick)

It was then that the hunger clawed at me. Gripped my attention like tendrils and squeezed me until I was blue and purple and finally gave in. It didn’t matter what I ate, as long as I ate something. so I smashed through the window of a pizza joint and yoinked a slice of macaroni pie. Molten cheese oozed through the cracks of my teeth like an active volcano.
—SIXSIXseve_n (Abbey’s pick)

It dripped down my tongue, flavors comingeling in the cheese emulsion. Viscous, garlicky, and thick with the inimitable taste of cheddar, this was unlike any pizza I had ever dreamt of.
—bobicus (chat’s pick)

Plated before my eyes was a gift from the Gods. Freshly baked dough wafted into my nose as the garlic and basil danced with the fragrance. And the best part, the liquid gold that blanketed the spongey canvas. I held the pizza slice aloft, the shell-shaped noodles jiggled like a rave party as I take the first bite.
—Dragonflyghter (chat’s pick)

Squishy, squeezy, soft shells spoke spring on a slice. Sumptuous simplicity spent seconds in my sight. Slipping, sliding, shells sorting in my stomach. Seconds shouted without shame.
—itanshi (chat’s pick)

The hungry Scoot calls forth the spirit of Japan’s greatest vacuum cleaner, to slurp those cozy creamy cheese-dripping shells down his food hole. The soft doughy crust was all he craved, enough to sustain him for centuries. If only his wallet and stomach were big enough…
—RealSayakaMaizono (chat’s pick)

Those were some amazing entries! But in the end the winner was
